Guardians of the Galaxy attraction to replace Universe of Energy at Epcot

Following their debut at Disney California Adventure park earlier this year, Star Lord and his band of intergalactic A-holes are ready to bring their shenanigans to Walt Disney World’s Epcot.

Announced at D23 Expo, a new Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired attraction will be added to Future World. Given the original vision of Epcot’s Future World as the place to experience the excitement and adventure offered by space travel, this seems like the perfect fit for the rockin’ and action-packed Guardians of the Galaxy to make its home.

While we don’t have specific details, Disney says this new E-ticket attraction is “the next step in how guests can encounter these characters [the Guardians of the Galaxy] at the Walt Disney World Resort.”

Unfortunately, the arrival of the Guardians of the Galaxy means we must say goodbye to another classic. This new attraction will replace the current Universe of Energy attraction (the ride with Ellen), which will close on August 13, 2017.

While it’s always sad to see a classic close, there’s no doubt the Guardians of the Galaxy brings some much-needed excitement to Epcot. Plus, it’s better than replacing Hollywood Studios’ Tower of Terror like Disney did in California.

Ellen’s Universe of Energy isn’t the only attraction that’ll be closing on August 13th at Walt Disney World. The Great Movie Ride is also set to close on the same day at Hollywood Studios to make way for the newly announced Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
