Untitled space movie from DisneyToon Studios set in Cars universe

Disney Untitled Space Movie

With all this talk of going to Mars, Disney is set to launch into space. During its D23 Expo animation panel, Pixar and Walt Disney Animations Studios Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter took the stage to showcase the first footage from its upcoming space-themed movie, which is set in the same universe as the Cars and Planes franchises.

The film is directed by Klay Hall and Bobs Gannaway, and will explore the future of aviation, taking moviegoers to the edge of discovery in the air and beyond.

The film, which does not yet have a title (“It’s harder to come up with a title than it is to get to space,” Lasseter joked), will hit theaters on April 12, 2019. Disney also announced another untitled film from the director of Monsters University, and it sounds super emotional.
